MY DECISION-MAKING FRAMEWORK
What is the Business Challenge?
Business requests often come with a proposed solution. Rather than starting with how, I begin by understanding why. My goal is to understand what the business is trying to achieve before recommending a path forward. This helps ensure recommendations address the root cause, support operational priorities, and remain effective as the business grows.
Clarify the Objective
What are we trying to achieve?
Challenge Assumptions
Are we solving the right problem?
Understand the Current State
Workflows • Responsibilities • Workload • Role Clarity • Accountability
What recommendations support the objective?
Ensure alignment to organizational objectives and long-term sustainability. Adjust if needed.
How will we measure success?
Measure what matters. This could be business performance, employee experience, operational efficiency, financial results, or leadership effectiveness.

HOW THIS LOOKS IN PRACTICE
The Business Request:
"We need another Sales Manager to increase revenue."
My First Questions
-
What are we trying to achieve?
-
Is this a leadership, workload, or process issue?
-
Are expectations and priorities clear?
-
Is the team spending time selling or completing administrative work?
-
Would another leader solve the problem or simply add another layer?
Possible Recommendation
The right solution might be additional leadership but it could also be redesigned roles, clearer accountability, improved processes, or additional operational support.
WHERE I'VE APPLIED THIS

Workforce Planning
Aligned workforce planning with future business capability by considering organizational needs six, twelve, and twenty-four months ahead rather than simply filling immediate vacancies.
Organizational Effectiveness
Reviewed organizational structure, decision-making, and role clarity to ensure teams could execute business priorities efficiently.
